Description of Project

The incidence of building new mansions in the Classical style has increased hugely in recent years, designed by specialist practises such as Quinlan Terry and Adam Architecture. The grander examples often require carved ornamental detail and it is essential that the design of this is properly considered. Knowledge of the orders and the different styles of foliage is a prerequisite for the successful realisation of the classical ornament. This comes from an awareness of historical precedent, which may be found by research, but must also be informed by experience in the making. For further information about the design development of this project, refer to the design section of the website.
