Globe Theatre, London

The Globe Theatre in Southwark is famed as the recreation of the theatre Shakespeare knew. Few people are aware that the site also houses a recreation of the Phoenix theatre, designed by Inigo Jones, the architect who introduced Palladian Classicism into England.

Atlantic House, Holborn Viaduct, London

The building of Holborn Viaduct around 1900 was a major London project of the time. The cast iron and granite structure spanned the course of the Fleet River, now entirely underground.

St. Pancras Station – London

The restoration of St. Pancras Station and its incorporation into the new Eurostar Rail Terminal was perhaps the major London infrastructure project of recent times. The iconic brick and stone terminus and Midland Hotel building, designed by George Gilbert Scott in 1866 came perilously close to demolition in the 1970s.

Juxon House

Juxon House is a new commercial building in the Paternoster Square development adjacent to St. Paul’s Cathedral. Forming one side of a renewed urban space in front of England’s greatest baroque building, the design of this new office block was highly sensitive.

Project Craftsman of the Year Award

Stone carver Tim Crawley was named Project Craftsman of the Year Award in this year’s Duke of Gloucester Awards organised by the Worshipful Company of Masons.
